6th Class
Welcome to 6th Class – the final year of primary school and a very special chapter in your child’s educational journey.
This year is all about preparation, leadership, and celebration. In 6th Class, pupils build on everything they have learned so far, developing greater independence, responsibility, and confidence in their abilities. We focus on deepening understanding across all subjects – English, Gaeilge, Maths, SESE, SPHE, the Arts, and PE – while also encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.
6th Class students are role models for the younger children in the school and often take on leadership roles such as helping with school events and supporting school initiatives. It’s a time when friendships grow stronger, memories are made, and students begin to prepare for the transition to secondary school.
As always, we place great importance on wellbeing, inclusion, and creating a supportive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued and encouraged to do their best.
The 6th Class teacher this year is Ms. Looney and she has 31 boys & girls in her class. This is a milestone year for the children as it marks their last year in Faha N.S. It is also the year they make their Confirmation and move on to secondary school! We look forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories!
6th Class Enjoy a Fun Morning Baking Banana Bread🍌🍞
Our 6th Class pupils had a deliciously fun morning in the kitchen, learning how to bake banana bread!
The school was filled with the smell of fresh bananas and chocolate as the students measured, mixed, and stirred their ingredients with care. Along the way, they practiced teamwork, followed recipes, and even learned a little about the science of baking—like how baking soda helps the bread rise.
Everyone was proud of their creations, and the best part came when it was time to taste the results! Laughter and happy chatter filled the room as pupils sampled each other’s banana bread and shared their baking experiences.
It was a wonderful way to combine practical skills, creativity, and fun, and 6th Class showed fantastic focus and enthusiasm throughout. Well done to all our budding bakers!
6th Class Celebrate St. Brigid’s Day by Making St. Brigid’s Crosses☘️🌿
Our 6th Class pupils enjoyed a hands-on celebration of St. Brigid’s Day by learning how to make traditional St. Brigid’s Crosses!
With enthusiasm and care, the students wove the rushes into the iconic crosses, discovering the history and symbolism behind this Irish tradition. As they worked, they learned about St. Brigid’s life and her importance in Irish culture, linking the craft to stories of kindness, generosity, and community.
The classroom was filled with laughter and creativity as each pupil proudly made their own cross to take home, bringing a touch of St. Brigid’s spirit to their families. It was wonderful to see their concentration, teamwork, and pride in mastering this traditional craft.
Well done to 6th Class for keeping this beautiful Irish tradition alive and celebrating it in such a hands-on, memorable way!

6th Class Celebrate Science Week in Style!🔬🧪
Our 6th Class pupils had an action-packed and exciting Science Week, filled with curiosity, creativity, and plenty of hands-on learning!
Science Week gave our students the chance to ask questions, test ideas, and discover just how exciting science can be. Most importantly, it reminded us all that science is about curiosity, exploration, and never being afraid to try something new.

6th Class Explore World War I Through Projects 🌍📜
Our 6th Class pupils have been delving into the history of World War I, gaining a deeper understanding of this important period and the impact it had around the world.
Over the past few weeks, students have been learning about the causes of the war, life in the trenches, key events, and the experiences of soldiers and civilians. They explored maps, historical photographs, and firsthand accounts to bring history to life.
To showcase their learning, the class worked on a variety of creative projects. The projects were presented to classmates and staff, with pupils confidently explaining their work and sharing the stories they had discovered. It was inspiring to see such dedication, curiosity, and respect for history throughout the class.
Through this topic, 6th Class not only learned about the facts of World War I but also reflected on the human experiences behind them. Well done to all our young historians for their hard work and creativity!
