1st Class

Welcome to 1st Class – an exciting and important year in your child’s primary school journey!

In 1st Class, pupils continue to build on the foundations laid in Junior Infants and Senior Infants, developing their skills in reading, writing, maths, and Gaeilge. This year is full of new learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

Our classroom is a nurturing and inclusive space where every child is supported to grow both academically and personally. Through a mix of play-based learning, structured activities, and hands-on exploration, children develop essential skills while having fun and making new friends.

We also focus on social skills, kindness, and respect, helping pupils become confident learners and caring members of our school community.

The 1st Class teacher is Ms. Burke. There are 28 boys & girls in 1st Class. The children are no longer in the 'infants' group now but that doesn't mean the fun ends! We look forward to an exciting year ahead, full of learning, laughter, and growth!

1st Class Celebrate Valentine’s Day ❤️💕

First Class has been hard at work creating wonderful Valentine’s artwork, and the results are fantastic! The classroom has been bursting with colour, creativity, and excitement as the children explored themes of love, friendship, and kindness through art.

As part of the celebrations, the class also discussed the importance of being a good friend and showing kindness to others. Valentine’s Day gave the children a lovely opportunity to reflect on how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

We are so proud of First Class for their creativity, effort, and the care they showed in every piece of artwork. Well done to all our wonderful artists! 💕

Christmas 🎄🎅

Our 1st Class pupils have been busy bringing the magic of Christmas to life through their wonderful festive art! The classroom has been filled with creativity, colour, and excitement as the children explored a range of fun seasonal activities.

From sparkling snowmen to cosy winter scenes, the children used paints, paper and lots of imagination to create their masterpieces. They’ve been learning new art skills too—cutting, sticking, shading, and designing—while working together and sharing ideas.

The finished artwork is now proudly displayed around the school, bringing festive cheer to everyone who passes by. We are incredibly proud of the children’s hard work and the joy they put into each piece. Their art truly captures the spirit of Christmas!
