5th Class
Welcome to 5th Class – an exciting and important year in your child’s primary school journey!
In 5th Class, pupils begin to take greater ownership of their learning as they develop confidence, independence, and leadership skills. This year offers plenty of opportunities to deepen understanding across the curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, Gaeilge, and SESE (History, Geography, and Science).
Our classroom is a place where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and every child is supported to reach their full potential. Through project work, group activities, class discussions, and hands-on learning, pupils are encouraged to think critically, work collaboratively, and express their ideas clearly.
We also place great emphasis on wellbeing, personal development, and positive relationships. 5th Class pupils often take on more responsibility within the school, setting a positive example for younger classes.
The 5th Class teacher this year is Ms Kelly. There are 23 children in this class. This is a year full of growth – academically, socially, and personally – and we look forward to all the learning, fun, and memorable experiences ahead!
What a Spooktacular Halloween! 🎃👻
Our pupils looked absolutely amazing today at our Halloween Dress-Up Day! 🧙♀️🕸️ We were blown away by the creativity, imagination and fantastic effort that went into their costumes. From spooky skeletons and wicked witches to adorable characters and wonderfully imaginative creations, everyone looked fantastic!
A huge well done to all our pupils for embracing the Halloween spirit and a big thank you to parents and guardians for helping to make the day so special. There were so many brilliant costumes to admire, and the children certainly brought plenty of Halloween magic and fun to our school! 🧡🖤

5th Class Explores Tanzania 🌍👏
Our 5th Class pupils recently completed a project on Tanzania and had the wonderful opportunity to present their work to Louise Quill, founder of the Tír na nÓg Children’s Foundation in Tanzania.
A big thank you to Louise for visiting our class, sharing her experiences and telling us all about the fantastic work she does through the foundation. It was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to learn more about Tanzania and the positive impact of her work on children’s lives!
Cumann na mBunscol blitz update ⚽🥅
Well done to our football team in the Cumann na mBunsol blitz. The team gave it their all, showing great effort, teamwork and determination throughout the blitz.
Although we didn't progress to the next stage, every player should be so proud of their efforts and how they represented our school 👏
Cumann na mBunscoil Blitz ⚽🥅
A huge well done to our 5th and 6th Class boys and girls who took part in the Cumann na mBunscoil blitz last week!
The team played against Listellick, O’Brennan and Gaelscoil Castleisland and put in a fantastic performance throughout the day. There was some excellent football on display, with great teamwork, determination and plenty of enthusiasm from everyone involved.
Despite the very wet and miserable conditions, the team showed great resilience and battled right to the end, finishing in 2nd place on the day!
As a result of their fantastic performance, the team will now progress to another blitz this week. We wish them the very best of luck and hope they have another enjoyable and successful day!
